Sold Out Bundle Boxes

The Cottage Mama Bundle Boxes. Sewing Fabric, Trim and Button Kits.

Sold Out Bundle Boxes

You guys……The Cottage Mama Bundle Boxes sold out in under 4 minutes! How did that happen?!?! When all those sold emails came into my inbox, I could hardly believe it! I wasn’t exactly sure how many boxes to put together. I knew I didn’t want to end up with too many left over, so I settled on 30 boxes. I figured that would be more than enough this first time. When I received the fabric yardage, I actually received less than I ordered (since these lines were pretty much sold out), so I was only able to do 26 boxes. But again, I figured that would be enough……wrong!! Who knew? I guess I should have planned for more…….

So I’ve been thinking I may start a monthly subscription service for these kits. Kind of a bundle of the month type thing! That way if you are a subscriber, you will be guaranteed a box and don’t have to live on your computer waiting for them to be offered for sale. Or try to figure out what time zone I’m in if you live abroad and have to purchase one in the middle of the night. This way, you will receive a gorgeous box each month that you can count on being filled with a beautiful array of high quality fabric, trims, buttons and notions. Would you like that?

The tricky part about having a subscription service is that I have to source everything. So I won’t be able to show you the exact box until after you’ve already subscribed when I know exactly how much of everything I’m needing to purchase. Why, you might ask? Well, because, for example. In this box, I wanted to do coral buttons, but I was only able to get a certain amount of the coral buttons and ended up having to do some aqua as well. Also, I had picked out another shade of coral thread, but I wasn’t going to be able to get 26 of them for another month. That worked out fine because I knew how many boxes I was needing to buy for since I had set that for myself ahead of time. If I show you a completed box and then you end up with something a little bit different, you might not be happy. Of course, I would only choose beautiful things, but you know how it is when you get your mind set on something and then it ends up different. Sometimes that’s a pleasant surprise and sometimes it feels like a disappointment.

The Cottage Mama Bundle Box. Fabric, Trim, Button and Thread Kits for Sewing!

What I will be able to do is let you know what the theme will be each month. For instance, I have an apple picking/back to school/fall themed box that is in my mind as well as many others. So I guess you’d have to trust me that I would curate a box that was truly wonderful without seeing it first. Would you be able to do that?

The boxes would probably be priced similarly to the this one ($59 plus shipping). It would be the same price each month and the amount of fabric and trim would vary, but still be in the range of what I listed when I told you about these first bundle boxes. I will have to see how I can set it up on the website with my website developer. A subscription service is complex to set up because I need to make sure that we can store everyone’s information and credit card information in the most secure way possible. I would also like to allow for you to skip a month if you wanted (with advance notice) or have other features where you could gift a subscription to something. But I’m not sure exactly what would would be getting into with all those features.

The Cottage Mama Sewing and Crafting Website

I just wanted to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for purchasing these boxes last week. It really made me feel good to know that you like the combinations of things that I put together. Every time I offer something for sale……a pattern, fabric, kit……I wonder if I’ll just hear crickets. But no, I didn’t hear crickets and I’m so thankful for all of you! I also loved hearing from you over in The Cottage Mama Patterns Facebook Group that you are interested in being able to purchase these as a box of the month type subscription. I don’t know these things, if you don’t tell me. If you aren’t a member of the group over there, I’d love to hear from you here on the blog. Please feel free to leave me a comment or email me at [email protected] and let me know if you are interested in being part of The Cottage Mama Bundle Box subscription program. I always love your feedback!

And until next time…….

Happy Sewing!

I LOVE your fabric & trim selections! Always. Unfortunately, I don’t sew enough to make a subscription service worth it for me (even with the option to skip). Perhaps you would consider offering a box pre-order option for those of us who a) love your taste b) don’t have access to some of the fabrics that you do and c) don’t sew in high volume.

    • Without repeating what Jenny said, I feel the exact same way. A box pre-order would work for me. Thanks, for your willingness to put together these kits. You have great taste!

  2. Love your selection of fabric and accessories – work during the day so I missed the time I could finally look into the deal; needless to say – they were out. Looking so forward to meeting you at Sewing at the Beach in Jan 2017; have signed up for your classes. Maybe you could do something special for SATB.

Yes I would love to sign up for a subscription and I would trust you to make them adorable without seeing them first. I love surprises

I would love to subscribe. Put my name on your list!!! I guess my assumption is that anything that you’d put in a box would be good….and for someone like me…..I could never even come close to putting things together in a good way. In the meantime, while you are getting all the webpage logistics organized, would it be possible to do a custom Etsy listing….and allow multiple people to “buy” it between a set of dates(say a week’s time)….and then you’d know for sure how many would be bought. We’d pay in advance, knowing that it would take time to get everything together. I don’t know if that would work or not, but it might be a stopgap way to do bundle boxes until your website is ready to take subscriptions.
I look forward to whatever you do. Thanks.

I don’t sew frequently, but would be interested in preordering maybe once every three months. I only sew for my great granddaughters.

What a great idea! I would love a subscription. I missed the first box, unfortunately, but I trust you to put together equally wonderful combinations. Hope to attend your classes at the beach.

  7. I really like the idea of a subscription. Not only would it be nice to be able to be able to skip a month, but perhaps options that are not monthly? Every other month or once a quarter.

  8. I like the every other month or quarterly box idea because I don’t have time to sew that much. Or else we could preorder once you’ve given us an idea of the theme. But I’d also like to know if a pattern or suggestions for patterns with the fabric you’ve selected would be included? I’d get really frustrated trying to figure out what to make with it, if there’s only a select amount of the fabrics and trim. Guess because my time to sew is so limited.
You have really good taste, so I know I’d be happy with your choices.
Thanks for offering to do this.

  9. While I wish I had the time to utilize a monthly box, truth is they would pile up. I would love the option to purchase one or two, but twelve would just be too much for me. I wish that wasn’t the case, but when it comes to sewing my “eyes are always bigger than my stomach”, so to speak. I always want to do more than I have time for:(

I actually did not hear of this until the sale was over. I’m on the newsletter list, but had no knowledge of this sale til this posting.

  10. I am interested in knowing more about the bundle boxes and how much fabric and trim come within the box. I would love to make a little pixie dress like the one you just posted this morning.
