Happy 8th Birthday Caspian!

Dear Caspian,

Today you are 8 years old! Happy Birthday, Buddy!! There are some things that I would like to remember about you when you turned 8 years old and some things that you might like to know about what you were like on August 31, 2019.

You love soccer. You made the travel soccer this year and are loving every minute of it.
You are in 2nd grade. You just started school and so far you think it’s pretty good.
You love cheeseburgers and mac-n-cheese. Your favorite candy is Whoppers.
You enjoy anything having to do with Ninja Warrior. We have a Ninja Line in our backyard and you love to watch the television show as well.
You like collecting Pokemon cards.
This last year you finally learned to ride a two wheel bike. You resisted for a long time, but when we insisted you learn, you picked it up in 10 mins. You can pretty much do anything you put your mind to doing……the challenge is getting you to believe that is true.
You also can finally tie your own shoes. I still have to tie your soccer cleats since you don’t do it super tight, but I’m glad you’ve learned this life skill.
You are stubborn. If you don’t want to do something, you will resist wholeheartedly, and while I admire your passion, it gets you into trouble from time to time.
You like to go on the computer and watch YouTube videos.
You enjoy playing your Nintendo Switch ……especially Mario Kart and Rocket League.
You are having a soccer themed birthday party this year with a few of your buddies. Your birthday falls on a Saturday this year, so we get to have the party on your actual birthday.
You like playing outside especially if you can find some neighborhood kids to play soccer.
You enjoy hiking and fishing with Daddy. You took a super long hike with Daddy when we were in Colorado this summer and really liked it. Daddy is thinking that you guys might do a father-son camping trip soon without sisters.
You are going to go to your first Chicago Bears game in November with Daddy and Grumpy (Grandpa). You are so excited because you LOVE sports.
You have started to become less and less interested in all your Hot Wheels (sniff, sniff). You still play with them a little, but not like you did a few years ago.
You always complain about having to live with so many sisters. You’ve asked me to have another baby (which is not part of our plan), but I’ve told you that the odds would be that it would be another girl, not the little brother you want SO badly. Just know, that someday, you will appreciate having lived with so many females.
You love to snuggle with me on the couch. You always tell me how much you love me and how you never want to leave me.
You love math and are really good at solving problems.
You are still really competitive, but you have learned that it’s ok to lose.
You are very loyal and kind to all your friends.

Caspian Finn, we love you so much! You are such a sweet, smart, funny, athletic, loving and kind boy and we are lucky to have you in our family. You keep our family very lively and active and we wouldn’t want it any other way. I hope you have the best birthday yet!
