Happy 6th Birthday, Matilda!

Happy 6th Birthday Matilda Jane! www.thecottagemama.comDear Matilda,

Today is your 6th birthday………happy birthday, sweet girl! This has been a mighty busy year and full of so much action and excitement. It’s hard to believe that another year has flown by. You’ve grown up so much since you turned five last year!

A few things I would like you to know about what you were like when you turned 6 years old and a few things I’d like to remember about you as well………

1. Giraffes are your favorite animal.

2. You love chicken strips and french fries and aren’t too fond of trying new foods (it’s a work in progress).

3. You were in full day Kindergarten this last year and your teacher was Mrs. Robinson. Next year you will be in 1st grade!

4. You are so unique and march to the beat of a different drummer………in a very good way.

5. You love, love, love to brush your teeth. You are meticulous about brushing and flossing. I think you might end up being a Dentist.

6. Out of the three biggest kids, you had the hardest time adjusting to having a new baby in the house. But now you just absolutely adore your baby sister, Josie. You call her your ‘cootie baby’……..which is you saying ‘cutie baby’.

7. You changed one of Josephine’s diapers all by yourself recently. You thought that was pretty cool. You love caring for your sister and are very thoughtful.

8. You recently learned how to ride a two wheel bike. Yay! Go Matilda!

9. You took dance classes this last year, but have decided that dance is ‘not your thing’. So next you are planning to take piano and horseback riding lessons and want to give Girl Scouts a try.

10. You love the water. You would take a shower or bath everyday and are always asking to play outside in the water.

11. Your favorite friend right now is Avery. You met her in Kindergarten and are happy she’s coming to your birthday party.

12. For your birthday this year, you are getting a new bike, Lego Friends and Shopkins and you are going to have a Pump It Up birthday party with 20 friends (you didn’t have a party last year).

13. You asked your Gigi to make your a red velvet cake with vanilla frosting for your birthday. We will go over to their house for a birthday lunch.

14. For your birthday dinner, you are going out with mommy and daddy alone. You wanted to choose a restaurant that had good chicken fingers, french fries and dessert (not too hard to find). So you’ve decided to go to Red Robin since they give out balloons there as well. Good call.

15. You are very smart. You are especially good at math and analytical skills. You love to show me how you count to above 100.

16. You memorize a lot of facts. You can tell us all sorts of things about different animals.

17. You are growing your hair out to your ankles (at least that’s what you say), so that you can have really long braids.

18. You love going camping and doing outdoor things with daddy. You went camping with Daddy and Grumpy (aka Grandpa) and also went canoeing with Daddy on Father’s Day recently.

19. You love to cuddle on the couch…..especially in the morning. I’m pretty sure your two love languages are quality time and physical touch.

20. A few months ago you told me that you thought everyone was put on this earth for a reason. And you were born to sing. You could feel it deep in your heart. You say a lot of things that amaze me. And I believe that you will sing……..I feel that in my heart.

Matilda Jane, you are one sweet, energetic, smart and amazing little girl. I love you with all of my heart and I know our life wouldn’t be nearly as exciting and fun without you. Thank you for being you……….you help mommy slow down a little, enjoy life and realize that sometimes it’s ok to wear our shoes on the wrong feet.

I love you from here to the moon and back again!

xoxo,

Mama
