Happy 3rd Birthday Caspian Finn

Caspian's 3rd Birthday on The Cottage Mama

Dear Caspian,

My, oh my, I can’t believe you are 3 years old today. I still feel like you are my baby because in my eyes you are still that tiny baby boy I brought home from the hospital three years ago. In a couple months, your new little sister will arrive and you will become a big brother. You’re growing up so fast. I am loving this extra time we are getting to spend together while your sisters are at school all day. You are such a joy every single day.

There are a few things I would like to remember about you on your 3rd birthday and a few things you might like to look back and know about yourself. So here they are, in no particular order…………

1. You still love cars. You’ve loved them since forever and your love is only getting stronger.

2. You are by far our most comical child.

3. You have all kinds of catch phrases that you’ve come up with this last year. A few of which are ‘I hear that!’, ‘Coco Head’, ‘Are you kidding me?’ And if only I could record how you say each one…….they make me smile every time.

4. You really enjoy spending time with your daddy. You are a guys guy.

5. You love corn dogs…..a lot. And you also really like chocolate chip granola bars, applesauce and most of all…….chocolate cake!

6. You still sleep in a crib. We could move you into a big boy bed, but you’ve never tried to get out, so there you’ll stay. Perhaps we will move you out before your sister comes, but we have two cribs so it’s really no big deal. And you still nap for about 3 hours a day……thank you for that one!

7. We have ‘attempted’ to potty train you. You are not interested whatsoever. I’m hoping you don’t go to college in diapers.

8. Your very favorite TV show is Paw Patrol, although you like Rescue Bots, Dora, Bubble Guppies and Team Umizoomi as well.

9. You love love LOVE the movie Cars and Cars 2. There is no other movie that holds your attention quite like Cars.

10. You are getting some Rescue Bots and Paw Patrol toys for your birthday. Nothing huge since you truly don’t need anything.

11. We are having a small family party this year for your birthday since we did a big party for you last year. It will be your immediate family, Gigi and Grumpy and Aunt Abby and Uncle Bryan. You’ve requested corn dogs and chocolate cake…….go figure.

12. You sleep with about 10 – 15 matchbox cars in your crib with you each night.

13. You love your sisters. You like to address them as ‘sisters’. ‘Sisters watch me, Hi sisters, Where are my sisters?’

14. When we first told you that you were going to have a new little sister, you spent about 6 months telling everyone that you were going to be a ‘Big Sister’. I think it’s because your sisters are Big Sisters……..but you’ve just recently started saying that you are going to be a ‘Big Brother’.

15. You are not attending preschool this year, but you will be going next year.

16. You love riding your school bus outside. You can zoom around on that thing so fast that no one can keep up with you.

17. You enjoy having books read to you. You seem to really like the Dora books as of lately.

18. In the last month you have entered the ‘Why?’ phase. There is a ‘Why?’ that follows just about everything I say. It’s no wonder that parents resort to ‘because I said so’. But it’s kind of endearing…….for now.

19. You always want to go to the playground. Anytime we see a park or school with a playground, you say ‘I go there now….pleeeeeeeease!’

20. You are so much fun. I have not met another child with such a sunny disposition.

Caspian Finn, I’m not sure what I did to deserve to have you in my life, but you truly light up my days. Your spirit and energy is contagious and you bring smiles to peoples faces everywhere you go. You make me laugh even when I don’t feel like laughing and you are everything I could have hoped for in a little boy. Our family wouldn’t be what it is without you and I am blessed to have you every day of my life.

I love you from here to the moon and back again sweet boy!

Happy Birthday!
