Dear Caspian,
Today is your 5th birthday! Happy birthday, buddy! You are growing up so fast. You’ve been looking forward to this day for months now, constantly asking us ‘how many days until my birthday?’…….’Is it on THIS day?’
Well, today is the day! Today, on your birthday, there are some things I would like to remember about you when you turned 5 and some things you might like to know about what you were like on August 31, 2016.
Happy 5th Birthday, Caspian Finn!
- You love, love, love cars! You have loved cars since I can remember and they are still your most favorite thing in the world.
- You are doing one more year of preschool. You could have gone to Kindergarten this year, since you make the cut-off (by 1 day), but I think another year of preschool is going to do you a lot of good.
- Speaking of school. You go to preschool at the same elementary school as your sisters and have the same teacher as last year. You absolutely adore your teacher. You also have a bus that picks you up and drops you off at our house which is really cool.
- You are going to be starting soccer this week. Some days you are excited about it and other days, you don’t really seem to care. Mama and Daddy are interested to see if you like it or not. You will be playing on a team with some of your buddies, so I think you’ll have fun being with you friends.
- You are having a Hot Wheels themed party this year. You had a car party when you turned 2 and now we are back having another car party. I like a guy who knows what he likes and you definitely like cars.
- Your favorite places to go eat are Culvers or McDonalds. You like to get the frozen custard from Culvers…….chocolate with brownies on top.
- You love your baby sister, Josephine. You always tell her how adorable she is and that she is such a ‘cutie’. Occasionally, you get annoyed when she messes with one of your car races, but for the most part, you are pretty patient with her.
- You love to win. And you have a hard time losing. We are working on learning how to lose gracefully. I love that you have the drive to win, but it’s super important to be able to handle losing appropriately because in life, we don’t always win.
- You are FINALLY getting yourself dressed, seat belt fastened and shoes put on……all on your own. It wasn’t that you couldn’t do it before, but you wanted Mama or Daddy to do it for you. I’m glad you have finally realized that you are big enough to do things for yourself.
- You enjoy watching youtube videos on the iPad of people racing Hot Wheels cars.
- You say that Pepo (your Grandpa) is your best friend. It is so sweet. And you wished he lived closer to you since he lives down in Texas.
- You will go up into your room and play for hours alone with your cars. You have a giant Mega Garage that you got for Christmas and a bunch of Hot Wheels tracks and you are in your own world when you are playing with all your cars.
- You really want to go to Disney World. You’ve been telling us that a lot lately. Hopefully we can make that happen this year or next!
- You are so cuddly and sweet. I love when you randomly come up to me and say ‘I love you so much’ and give me big hugs. You also like to compliment my clothing and tell me I look pretty. Thank you for that, buddy.
- You think that if you kiss someone on the lips then you are married to them.
- You have a crush on a little girl that lives right behind us named Gabriella. She’s younger than you are, but you say that you are ‘really and truly’ in love. You stand at the bottom of our hill and yell…….’Gabriellaaaaaaaaaa, Gabriellaaaaaaaaa’…….hoping she’ll come outside. It reminds me of A Streetcar Name Desire……..’Stellaaaaaaaaaa’.
- You went to Monster Jam with Daddy this year and thought it was SUPER awesome! You are hoping to go again.
- Your favorite television shows and movies are Animal Mechanicals, Paw Patrol, Blaze and Jurassic Park.
- Your favorite foods are corndogs, meatballs and mac and cheese. As well as ice cream and cookies!
- Your favorite color is green.
Caspian, you are simply the best! I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t had the opportunity to be the mom to a boy. You are so different than your sisters in so many ways. I always thought I would be a good ‘girl’ mom since I am familiar with all things girly. But now, after having a son, I would have been so disappointed to not have had the experience being a mom to such a special boy. Caspian, you bring so much joy, excitement, energy and life to our family! We are so thankful for you for introducing us to cars, monster trucks, trains, construction vehicles, superheros, dinosaurs, racing, running and the list goes on………
Happy Birthday, Cass!
I love you from here to the moon and back again!
