Dear Caspian,
Today you are 2 years old. Happy birthday my little man! I was recently thinking about you and what a big boy you are becoming; however, since you are my youngest I was wondering if I will always feel like you are my baby? Your sisters both felt so old to me when they turned two because there was already and new baby in the picture. But not you. I’ve heard from other mothers that your youngest is always the baby. I hope that is true because I’d like to keep you as my baby forever.
Today on your birthday there are some things I would like to remember about you:
1. You love cars. And I mean LOVE.
2. You like wearing shoes. You wear everyones shoes around the house……even Mommy’s.
3. You adore your sisters and they adore you.
4. Daddy is your absolute favorite. It used to be mommy, but right now you only have eyes for daddy. And I’m ok with that……..he is a pretty awesome man.
5. We call you Cass, Boo, Boo-Boo, Bubs, Buddy and Bubba (Bubba is Matilda’s favorite). We kind of think that you might think your name is actually ‘Buddy’.
6. You like to run. Everywhere.
7. You are having a ‘car’ themed birthday party. Not the movie ‘Cars’, just the vehicle.
8. You like to wave at the trash trucks going by and you even blow the trash man kisses.
9. You make everyone smile. When you are in a store and someone says hello, you don’t shy away…….you smile right back.
10. You are a very easy going child. Thank you for that!
11. You take one afternoon nap for about 1.5 hours.
12. You like music and love to dance.
13. You have a red radio flyer car that you like to ride around the house.
14. You have a green turtle on wheels that you ride and spin around and around.
15. You like to dress up (or like it when your sisters dress you up).
16. You like to eat. You’d eat all day if I let you. You like applesauce, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, sausage, chicken nuggets, but aren’t too keen on your veggies right now.
17. You just got your first haircut for your 2nd birthday.
18. You are getting a wooden train set for your birthday from Mommy and Daddy.
19. You love to ride your yellow school bus around outside.
20. You are all boy. That’s the only way I can describe it.
Caspian Finn, you are such a lovely little boy with so much energy and love. I said it last year and I’ll say it again, there is certainly a different bond between a mother and a son and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience it with you. It’s hard to believe you’re 2 years old today, but you truly will always be my baby. A big Happy Birthday to you!
Love always,
Mama
Buddy is going to love reading this when he is grown. Before then he, like the rest of the planet will blush when he reads it until he grows up.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, Janet! I really appreciate it. Have a great day, Lindsay
I just LOVE when you write these letters to your children on their birthdays! What a wonderful history you are giving them that they will cherish when they are older. Happy Birthday, Caspian!
it’s unbelieveable that my little Caspian had a car themed 2nd birthday a decade ago. it goes by so fast. cherish every moment!
