Hi, everyone! I’m Veronica, and you can find me most days at sewVery where I blog about the outfits I make my daughter, patterns I’ve tested or reviewed, and an occasional purse or bag I’ve sewn for myself! I rediscovered sewing just two and a half years ago, and since then, I can’t go a day without planning my next project!

Quilting Podcast Interview and Quilt Market
So I have been incredibly busy the last few weeks preparing to exhibit for the first time at International Quilt Market and I leave today. The show takes place in Houston every fall and I am so thankful that my mom and her husband live down there and have been able to help me coordinate all the logistics involved in having a booth and I have my in-laws lined up to watch the kids. I have attended market many times in the past, but this will be my very first time having my own booth promoting my patterns and new book. I am booth #1837, so if you are attending market, please stop by and say hello. I always love meeting people in person. If you aren’t attending, but want to see some behind the scenes photos during market, feel free follow me on Instagram @thecottagemama or on Facebook.
Rainbow Unicorn & Rainbow Butterfly Costumes
I finally finished the girls Halloween costumes! Hooray! It’s been a tad stressful getting ready to exhibit at International Quilt Market this next week in Houston, TX and trying to make sure I have all my family stuff in order before I leave. And one of those items was making sure the Halloween costumes were ready to go since I get back only two days before the big day.

PBS Sew It All TV Filming
This past weekend I flew to Golden, CO to film an episode of the PBS show, “Sew It All TV“. There have been so many wonderful things that have happened this year and being invited onto this show was such a honor. Looking back at past seasons and seeing folks from HGTV and Project Runway, it’s quite a thrill for The Cottage Mama to get to be on an entire episode of this fantastic show.
Toy Car Themed Boys Birthday Party
About a month ago we had a Toy Car themed birthday party for Caspian’s 2nd birthday. As I’ve mentioned before, this little guy absolutely adores cars so his party theme really came as no surprise to anyone. We didn’t have a big 1st birthday party for Mr. C, so we decided to through a bigger bash with 40+ people for his 2nd birthday. Usually when we have a lot of people at our parties, we like to host outdoors, but because it was so hot and humid, we opted for inside our cottage which meant it was quite the cozy party.
Free Fairy Fabric Wings Pattern and Tutorial
Hi, my name is Anh-Chi from SewLoveLe, and I am super excited to be doing a guest tutorial for the Cottage Mama. When I first started seriously sewing a couple of years ago, I drew my a lot of my inspiration from the tutorials and helpful sewing information on Lindsay’s blog. She also gave me my first ever pattern testing opportunity and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her kindness and generosity in teaching others about sewing. That’s why, when this opportunity came along, I jumped at the chance to be able to contribute something for her.
Since Halloween is just around the corner, I know costumes are on a lot of people’s minds. Who doesn’t have a little girl who wants to be a fairy or just have some wings to play with at home? I bought many wings in the past, and they are all lovely, but I have never seen any wings that are made from cotton fabric. If you google wings tutorial, you will mostly find how to make wings with a wire hanger and a pair of stockings. The following tutorial shows you how to make wings using floral wire and a few fat quarters. Happy Sewing!
Fabric Destash Sale and Giveaway Winner
I love how much you all love fabric……it’s like we are kindred spirits. Last week I had a HUGE studio destash sale and sold off a lot of my extra fabrics and trims. I announced it over on The Cottage Mama Facebook page and sold the bundles through my Etsy shop. I tried to bundle things together that coordinated well so that it would be easy to create a project or look from each bundle. Here are some more pictures of the fun fabric and trim bundles.
