We have been having a lot of fall fun this year. Fall is my absolute most favorite time of year in the Chicagoland area. I love how the leaves change into all these amazingly gorgeous colors, I love being able to put on warm cozy sweaters and make the kids hot chocolate with marshmallows. There is so much to love about fall and I thought I would share some personal family photos with you from this last month.
Matilda’s preschool took a field trip to a local farm to pick some pumpkins and gords. This was a lot of fun because it was just Matilda and Mama. Usually Matilda is either hanging with big sister or has little brother tagging along, since she is the middle child. But this day was all about Matilda.
The farm had a wonderful petting zoo. The picture above is Matilda inside with the baby chickens and baby ducks. She loved those little guys.
There was a giant corn pit that Matilda enjoyed playing in and she got to pick out one pumpkin and three gords on her trip to the farm. I sure had a great time with this little lady. I need to make sure I do more one-on-one things with her because sometimes I feel like she gets lost in the shuffle not being the oldest and not being the youngest.
On another weekend we did our annual tradition of going on the Autumn Drive with my in-laws. The Autumn Drive is a weekend long event where all the local farms open up their doors and there are arts and crafts for sale, a local potter selling his gorgeous pottery, antiques for sale, fun food and lots of pumpkins, gords and squashes for sale. It’s pretty much the epitome of fall and always seems to take place on the most gorgeous weekend of the year.
The kids are always excited for a corn dog. Here are my three littles enjoying a their corn dogs on the Autumn Drive.
Another favorite food is the fresh made kettle corn. The kids love this stuff and so do my husband, Brett and I.
