Walnut Basil Pesto Recipe

Ingredients
  • ½ cup walnuts
  • 6 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 6 cups fresh basil leaves
  • ½ lemon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1½ cups olive oil
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
Instructions
  1. Place the Parmesan cheese in the food processor and process for 30 seconds.
  2. Add walnuts and garlic to food processor and process for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  3. Add in basil, the juice of half a lemon, salt and pepper.
  4. With the food processor still on, stream in the olive oil until the pesto reaches your desired consistency. You may use a little more or less olive oil.
  5. Use immediately for a spread or a sauce on pasta. Or store in the refrigerator or freezer to use at a later time.
