Josie Mae Bonnet Pattern – Now in Print!

In the last few years, I’ve been releasing a lot of my new patterns in PDF format only, but today I’m excited to announce a new The Cottage Mama Pattern now in print!

Josie Mae Bonnet Pattern

SIZE NEWBORN – SIZE 4

The Josie Mae Bonnet is a vintage-inspired button sunbonnet for your darling little ones. It features a large bonnet brim to keep sun off of those sweet little faces and has 9 buttons creating a gorgeous scalloped look all across the top of the bonnet. The bonnet ties around the chin with a large sash style bow. The back of the bonnet is perfect for embroidering a monogram or other design and is also reversible so you can achieve two looks in one!

This pattern was created for confident beginner sewers. The pattern is a very quick sew and is great for those looking to perfect their buttonhole skills. The Josie Mae Bonnet will be the perfect baby shower gift and can be made in all sorts of fabric! It can be created in heavier-weight fabrics for colder weather months and lighter-weight fabrics for warmer weather months. It’s a bonnet for all seasons!

As difficult as the Josie Mae Bonnet may appear with all the piping and the buttonholes, I assure you that this is a very easy pattern. It’s a great pattern to practice your buttonholes! If you are a quilter wanting to try your hand at a garment project, the Josie Mae is a great place to start! The printed, paper version of the pattern comes with a full-color instruction booklet and the pattern pieces are printed onto thick white pattern paper.

While this bonnet pattern looks sweet with many different Cottage Mama patterns, one of my favorites for little ones is the Reversible Shortcake Romper pattern (shown above). Again, it’s another great beginner pattern with absolutely no buttonholes or zippers and is fully reversible so you get two looks in one. The pattern also comes with a reversible dress pattern included with the romper. The Shortcake was one of the first patterns designed by The Cottage Mama and has become a best sellers in the collection. Available in paper and PDF format.

The fabrics shown here are from my debut fabric collection, Dainty Darling for Riley Blake Designs. The yellow and pink floral just shouts spring and Easter to me and the sweet pink floral on the romper is such a sweet, feminine print for a precious little girl.

One of my favorite aspects of the Josie Mae Bonnet is the ability to easily personalize the bonnet with machine embroidery. Using a monogram, simple initial or special motif, you can take your bonnet to the next level and create a true family heirloom.

If you would like to get your printed, paper copy of the Josie Mae Bonnet, you can find it HERE.
