Merry Christmas and Christmas Trees

Christmas Trees at The Cottage Mama

I just wanted to pop in here and wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I’m taking the rest of the year off to spend with my family. Every year we cut down our Christmas tree at a local tree farm the day or two after Thanksgiving. They don’t have the biggest or most perfect selection, but part of the fun is the hunt. My husband and I have been going here since the year we got married, so it’s definitely become a family tradition. Before I leave you here for the next few weeks, I thought I would share some pictures of our tree hunting adventure.

Sew Classic Clothes for Girls Book Tour: Final Stop

Very Shannon: Sew Classic Clothes for Girls Book Tour

The final stop on the “Sew Classic Clothes for Girls” blog book tour in on my dear friend, Shannon’s blog, Very Shannon. I feel like I have known Shannon for forever, but really it’s just been about four years. I absolutely love this girl. She has been nothing but supportive of me since I started blogging. I emailed Shannon when I first started out asking for her help and advice and she was so lovely and helpful. I will never forget her kindness and it’s something I try to pay forward to others starting out who might need my help these days. Shannon was one of the very first people I called and told about my book deal because I knew she would be just as excited for me as I was…….don’t you love people like that? Since then, Shannon has self published a gorgeous knitting book with Jane Richmond called “Journey” a collaboration.

You can head over to Very Shannon to read Shannon’s review of ‘Sew Classic Clothes for Girls’. Click HERE.

So I got a little behind posting about the ‘Sew Classic Clothes for Girls’ Book Tour this week. I’m in charge of Savannah’s Kindergarten holiday party, so I have been busy getting ready for that and just trying to truly enjoy this holiday season with the kids. We made several different Christmas cookies yesterday and have been having a wonderful time. They’re only little once, right? I’m sure you understand. But I’m back this morning to update you on where the tour is located and which blogs are doing giveaways for the book.

Love for Ruby

Love for Ruby: The Cottage Mama

The thing I love most about the blogging is the sense of community. There are so many different women that I interact with on a daily basis and perhaps have not met in real life, but I still consider them my friends……some of my dearest friends. Today I need your help. My friend Christie from the blog ‘A Lemon Squeezy Home‘ is at the hospital this morning with her beautiful six month old daughter, Ruby Jane, where Ruby is undergoing open heart surgery. My mom (Grandma Jane) actually just had open heart surgery to replace her aortic valve about four weeks ago, so I can begin to understand what this family is feeling today.

Sew Classic Clothes for Girls: Dana from Made

Today we continue the ‘Sew Classic Clothes for Girls‘ Blog Book Tour with two incredible sewing bloggers. I’m sure you know our first blogger, Dana, as she has made quite a name for herself over on her super-popular sewing blog, MADE. Dana was one of the first sewing blogs I followed before I decided to start my own blog. She is known for her simple, modern approach to sewing with fantastic and easy to understand instructions. I met her last year at Alt Design Summit in Salt Lake City and she’s just as cool and laid back as she appears on her blog……oh, and her fashion sense is amazing. Dana understands the time and energy that goes into writing a book as she released her first book a while back called, Fabrics A to Z.

Head over to MADE to read Dana’s review and enter to win your very own copy of the book. Click HERE.

Melly Sews: Sew Classic Clothes for Girls Book Tour

And also on the tour today is Melissa fromMelly Sews. Melissa writes a wonderful sewing blog and is also the owner / designer behind the pattern line, ‘Blank Slate Patterns‘. And though our design aesthetics differ from one another, we both come together with our love of beautiful finishing and well-fitting garments. Melissa has some of the best technical sewing tutorials over on her blog and she also has an e-course for learning to create your very own digitized PDF patterns. Melissa and I had the pleasure of meeting at Quilt Market this fall and I think she is just the best. Cute, smart, energetic and talented……all rolled into one!

Head over to Melly Sews and read Melissa’s review of the book and enter to win your very own copy of the book! And Melissa also has a line drawing of one of the dresses for the book for your to print out so you can play around with different fabrics and placement. Click HERE.

Michael’s Recollection Calendar Kit Review

Michael's Recollection Calendar Kit: The Cottage Mama

This post is sponsored by Michael’s, but all opinions and photos are 100% mine.

I don’t know about you, but I have the most beautiful scrapbook for my oldest daughter, Savannah, documenting all the moments in her 1st year. What do I have for my other, younger children? And as sad as I am to admit it, a whole lot of nothing. So when Michael’s sent me this new Recollection Calendar Kit, I was over the moon. Finally a way for me to document our special moments each year without feeling like I have to do a full scrapbook.
